Some new Game of Thrones trailers coming out, and an announcement of a 15 minute preview on Monday. Below is the Power Trailer, and a few scene previews that are rewards for completing puzzles at the HBO site "Maester's Path".

The most badass trailer yet.

Fifth Reward, a brief conversation between King Robert and Ned Stark.

Fourth Reward, Tyrion Lannister and Maeste Aemon discussing winter beneath the wall. Also there is Lord Commander Mormont.

Third Reward, Danearys Targaryen and Jorah Mormont.

Some more favorites

I've already posted some trance, a couple instrumentals, and a couple Zelda remixes, so I might as well post some classic rock. Everyone knows Pink Floyd, Queen, Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, countless others. I thought I'd post three songs that I wish would be played on some of my local stations. These are big name rock artists, but they don't get nearly as much attention as many others, or are known for only a handful of songs.

I should hope that everyone has at least heard of Meat Loaf, but I know of several who haven't, and several others who have but thought he was a joke/not real artist because of the name. It saddens me. Bat Out of Hell is truly a classic.

This by Ted Nugent, known mainly for Cat-Scratch Fever. I have actually heard this played on the radio once or twice in the past year. I think it has a sick beat to it, pretty badass.

Peter Frampton is great. Random fact: Peter Frampton went to school with David Bowie, and at age 11 was part of band managed by Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Review

Almost everyone hates the three newer Star Wars movies. This is quite simply the best review I have ever seen explaining why the first one specifically sucks scene by scene. There are 7 parts total, and this is just the first. I definitely didn't think I'd be watching 70 minutes of this, but it really well thought out and pretty funny. I'd recommend at least watching the first, and then watching the others should you like it.

Since people seemed to like the trailers I had posted of Game of Thrones, I thought they might like to see a few character bios/scenes from the series. There are many more, with the link at the end of this post, but here are my four of my favorite characters.

Tyrion Lannister

Arya Stark

Jon Snow

Eddard "Ned" Stark

More can be found at http://www.a-game-of-thrones.net/fancast-videos/ . For those who haven't read A Game of Thrones, it really is one of the best things you can read. School had killed my interest in reading by senior year of highschool, too many repeat reads (Hamlet/Romeo and Juliet, I'm looking at you [I still like Hamlet though]), too much bullshit with symbolism and what the author is trying to say, not just reading the damned book, and drawing your own conclusions. Looking at the formula instead of getting lost in the story. As somebody who read LotR in 6th grade, I have to say that the A Song of Ice and Fire series blows it out of the water in terms of story, characters, and politics. LotR had many cool things about it, and was better in a few of it's own, such as the depth and lengths he went to in order to create languages and entire histories for the characters, but outside of Gandalf falling in Moria, the books rarely had me emotionally involved. A Game of Thrones, and the rest of the ASoIaF has definitely given me the most visceral reactions I have ever had to events in a book, and as such, I would highly recommend reading before watching the series in April.

Also, yes, Ned Stark is played by Sean Bean, the guy who played Boromir/the villain in National Treasure/Alec Trevelyan from GoldenEye.

More awesome music: Zelda themed.

Above is simply the coolest of the Legend of Zelda inspired remixes. Very intense, really brings back memories of childhood. Another cool remix getting a lot of attention recently was a dubstep featuring a lot of the sounds and several songs of Ocarina of Time. which can be found here. Both are very cool in their own right, though I think the dubstep uses too many sound effects that become pretty annoying when you're trying to enjoy the actual remix. Also, a part of me still wants to punch something in the teeth every time Navi shouts. If I could have put Navi into one of the empty bottles, no, a bottle with spiders, I would shake it for hour. Maybe give it to that rolling Goron. But I digress. If anyone has any other really cool Legend of Zelda remixes, please share in the comments!

A Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire

This is the brand new Fear and Blood trailer for the Game of Thrones HBO mini-series, and it's going to be amazing. Winter is coming, and so am I. This trailer, along with the House of Stark Feature and the announcement that A Dance With Dragons is coming out this summer means that it's been an awesome couple of weeks for ASoIaF fans. The TV show will be airing on April 17th, and I will be seriously considering buying an HBO subscription just for this show. All signs point to it being faithful, and the casting seems to have been expertly done, save minor inconsistencies.

A general note to my viewers:

I believe there has been an issue with my site and it's language, and as such, my language will now be toned down. I will rely less on profanity to make my views known, though there will still be occasional use of it.

Final Fantasy X rage, continued

So, that crying chick Tidus, crazy-eyes Yuna, giant death-machine in the sky...where was I. Oh yes, I was in the middle of saying the characters were basically all crap. Except Auron. And maybe Rikku. Other members of the party include the stoic bear-man who doesn't say, or do, anything of any significance in the entire thing and is pretty much just ignored. Lulu, a goth chick that has a very strange doll fetish, and Wakka, who listening to in his Jamaican accent causes you to wonder if actors who did black face were more stereotypical in their rendition. Basically, most of the good guys are uninteresting and should be shot. Or at least the people who conceived them.

At least the bad guys are going to be awesome, right? C'mon, Kefka, Sephiroth, Kuj- okay, Kefka and Sephiroth, surely the villain these punks face has to have killed more babies in a single afternoon and flayed more puppies than Hitler on acid. Nope, only things this guy has ever likely "killed" are his daily 12 bottles of styling gel, and my interest in continuing that atrocity of a game.

Are you kidding me?

And just for kicks, here is a youtube-doubler experience for you. Tidus's laugh slowed down, and a goat. Enjoy.

Sharing some epic music:

I've been trying to find some epic music to listen to. Immediate Music is great for epic music, but this is by Globus(Which is actually, from what I can gather, affiliated with Immediate Music).

I'm also a big fan of a lot of electronica, dubstep and trance specifically. For anyone into dubstep, check out Mt. Eden Dubstep!  Below is Sierra Leone and Still Alive:

Share some of the music that gets you pumped!

Final Fantasy X

I must start with this before we go any further. I know a lot of people who have played Final Fantasy games, and while everyone has played different parts of the series, and have differing opinions on which ones were the best, many seem to have really enjoyed Final Fantasy X.

On a scale of 1 to RAGE, I'd have to place this somewhere in the ballpark of diappointment, and angry confusion. How do people like this? It boggles my mind.

Final Fantasy X is the story of one chill dude named Auron who has to put up with the inane crap of his possibly retarded companions as they escort a smiling, cross-eyed, suicidal chick to her doom, to please the giant death-machine in the sky. Well, that's not quite right. You're not following the story of Auron. You're following the story of the ADHD poster-child as he tries to go 20 minutes at a time without breaking down crying about his daddy issues, or how he's not in the right millennium. WAH, DADDY DOESN'T LOVE ME. WAH, WHY DIDN'T DADDY RESPECT ME. WAH, EVERYONE I KNEW DIED A FIERY AND PAINFUL DEATH A THOUSAND YEARS AGO. Alright, that one may be legitimate, but for the love of all that's holy, grow a pair. This whiner's name is Tidus, for those of you unfamiliar to this game. This guy is simultaneously known for his tendency to cry every chance that he gets, and his disconcerting over-enthusiasm. He could be bawling his annoying little eyes out one moment, but then if you pulled out a Blitzball, his face would suddenly become an exaggerated caricature of an anime character, and scream "BLITZBALL?!?!?!?!11 I LOVE BLITZBALL!!!!!!!!!11!", instantly forgetting that he personally witnessed the deaths of millions in what was essentially the apocalypse. Oh, wait, that really doesn't haunt him that badly. Or, really at all. He was crying because his father really didn't care about him.

Which brings us to his father, Jehct. Jehct, as it turns out, has been morphed into aforementioned giant death-machine in the sky. I'd like to think the transformation had something to do with the hatred he harbored towards himself for raising that whiny snot Tidus. Even 1000 years into the future, Tidus is still able to call his daddy issues relevant, perhaps more so, since his dad's hobbies changed from Blitzball, being all-around awesome and famous, and ignoring his failed attempt at a son, to destroying cities, flying over large groups of people and murdering them, and occasionally accepting the blood sacrifices from the sad, sad people of Spira. All in all, a very identifiable father figure we can all sympathize with.

The story is ridiculous, and the characters are dumb as shit. More of this rant, continued, on it's way.

Operation Caffeine, Sugar, and RAGE is a GO

I thought I'd try my hand at creating a blog. I'm known for often ranting about things to my friends, going on tirades on several topics, and thought it might be nice to try to write a few of them down, perhaps even see if others might be interested in hearing the ramblings of a humble college student. Tirades may cover things from movies and events, to video games and ridiculous over-analysis of the mundane. In the upcoming posts, I hope to make clear why this is Caffeine, Sugar, and RAGE.
