Game of Thrones: Episdoe 8 Preview

For those watching the show, all hell is starting to break loose. This is the preview for episode 8, and it is going to be incredible. And not just because the show has been awesome, but because episode 8 is the only episode in season 1 completely written by George R. R. Martin himself. It'll be damned good if it's half as good as his writing.

Some music I've been listening to

A little bit of classic Metallica. 

And why not, some classic Nightwish too. Personally, I enjoyed Tarja's singing, but Annette, their new singer, is good too. Besides, it sounds like Tarja was kind of a bitch, sounds like a change was needed. Oh well.

It's been a hectic few months, two internships, classes, depression, moving out, moving in, getting an old job back, etc. Hope you guys can forgive my time away. Anyways, I posted a lot of Game of Thrones stuff before the show aired, and now it's already up to Episode 7, with Episode 8 airing on Sunday night at 9pm on HBO. So far, great show, and surprisingly true to the books. There are differences, some small, some larger, but most differences are to help explain things that are explained internally in the books from the point of view of the characters. Great show, great books.

I'll be posting some music in the next couple posts, maybe try to bring back some good ol' fashion rage. Now that my most time consuming internship is done, I'll be making regular posts again and posting some content.

Some more favorites

I've already posted some trance, a couple instrumentals, and a couple Zelda remixes, so I might as well post some classic rock. Everyone knows Pink Floyd, Queen, Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, countless others. I thought I'd post three songs that I wish would be played on some of my local stations. These are big name rock artists, but they don't get nearly as much attention as many others, or are known for only a handful of songs.

I should hope that everyone has at least heard of Meat Loaf, but I know of several who haven't, and several others who have but thought he was a joke/not real artist because of the name. It saddens me. Bat Out of Hell is truly a classic.

This by Ted Nugent, known mainly for Cat-Scratch Fever. I have actually heard this played on the radio once or twice in the past year. I think it has a sick beat to it, pretty badass.

Peter Frampton is great. Random fact: Peter Frampton went to school with David Bowie, and at age 11 was part of band managed by Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Review

Almost everyone hates the three newer Star Wars movies. This is quite simply the best review I have ever seen explaining why the first one specifically sucks scene by scene. There are 7 parts total, and this is just the first. I definitely didn't think I'd be watching 70 minutes of this, but it really well thought out and pretty funny. I'd recommend at least watching the first, and then watching the others should you like it.

Since people seemed to like the trailers I had posted of Game of Thrones, I thought they might like to see a few character bios/scenes from the series. There are many more, with the link at the end of this post, but here are my four of my favorite characters.

More can be found at http://www.a-game-of-thrones.net/fancast-videos/ . For those who haven't read A Game of Thrones, it really is one of the best things you can read. School had killed my interest in reading by senior year of highschool, too many repeat reads (Hamlet/Romeo and Juliet, I'm looking at you [I still like Hamlet though]), too much bullshit with symbolism and what the author is trying to say, not just reading the damned book, and drawing your own conclusions. Looking at the formula instead of getting lost in the story. As somebody who read LotR in 6th grade, I have to say that the A Song of Ice and Fire series blows it out of the water in terms of story, characters, and politics. LotR had many cool things about it, and was better in a few of it's own, such as the depth and lengths he went to in order to create languages and entire histories for the characters, but outside of Gandalf falling in Moria, the books rarely had me emotionally involved. A Game of Thrones, and the rest of the ASoIaF has definitely given me the most visceral reactions I have ever had to events in a book, and as such, I would highly recommend reading before watching the series in April. 

Also, yes, Ned Stark is played by Sean Bean, the guy who played Boromir/the villain in National Treasure/Alec Trevelyan from GoldenEye.
